Participation in Initiatives
TCFD
Sumitomo Warehouse expressed its support for the TCFD recommendations in July 2022. Based on the disclosure framework established by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure* (TCFD), we analyze the opportunities and risks posed by climate change to our business. We aim to reduce risks and expand business opportunities, while striving for proactive information disclosure. *The TCFD was disbanded in October 2023.
CDP
CDP is an international environmental not-for-profit charity that operates an environmental information disclosure system and asks companies and local governments to disclose environment-related information. We proactively disclose environmental information through responses to questionnaires prepared by the organization.
United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)
Our Group is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest sustainability initiative, in which the United Nations and private sector companies and organizations join hands to build a healthy global society. We endorse the Ten Principles in the four areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment, and Anti-Corruption set forth by the UNGC, and will continue to work toward their realization.
The Japan Warehousing Association Inc.
We are a member of the Japan Warehousing Association Inc., an organization of warehouse operators which aims to promote the sound development of the warehousing industry and contribute to public welfare. The association is engaging in GX for the warehouse industry with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and has established 12 standing committees on various themes. As a member, we are working for the development of the warehousing industry.
The Japan Harbor Transportation Association
We are a member of the Japan Harbor Transportation Association, an organization of harbor transport operators which aims to contribute to the sound development of the harbor transport business. The association has established an ESG/SDGs Task Force Committee and other bodies, and is working to expand registrations in the Minato SDGs Partner Registration System established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the port sector. We are also working to achieve sustainability in ports and harbors by endorsing and registering with the system.
Japan Association for Logistics and Transport
We are a member of the Japan Association for Logistics and Transport, an organization of logistics companies that aims to establish policies on cross-cutting issues related to logistics and to contribute to the sound development of the industry. The organization conducts information exchanges and awareness-raising activities (Logistics Environmental Award, etc.) for the realization of a decarbonized society, and as a member, we endorse and promote these efforts.
